MaryAnne Piccolo
Educator

MaryAnne is currently a candidate in the Graduate Program at The City College of New York for Educational Theatre. It is a highly competitive program where she will receive her M.S. and certification to teach theater in New York City and State from K-12.  Since she will be receiving her Master's Degree, she will also be able to teach college level courses. Along with pursuing her career as a professional in the performing arts, MaryAnne currently is freelancing as a teaching artist in New York City.

Teaching Artistry

Currently, MaryAnne can be found assistant directing at The Lower Manhattan Arts Academy. Some of the projects she has been involved in include The Crucible and HAIR. Working on LoMATE's production of HAIR was an unbelievably rewarding experience as the piece centers around high school age kids on the Lower East Side of New York City. As a facilitator on HAIR, MaryAnne was also able to arrange for the period costumes to be lent to the school from a professional theater company outside Philidelphia.  She also brought in Broadway's Annaleigh Ashford (Wicked, Legally Blonde, HAIR, RENT, NBC's SMASH) as a guest speaker for the students. Annaleigh sat with the kids as a tribe and shared some amazing stories of how the piece was created. MaryAnne was also able to arrange Sara King (Shelia) and Steel Burkhardt (Burger) of The Broadway National Tour of HAIR to make an suprise video for the tribe.  They also generously sent a signed tour poster as an opening night gift.  It now hangs in the dance studio at LoMA.
